Dr. Theodore “Ted” Prescott Haddox Jr., 80, of Huntington, West Virginia, beloved husband, father, grandfather and brother, went to his eternal home February 23, 2024. Ted was preceded in death by his parents, Theodore Prescott Haddox Sr. and Pauline Huffman Haddox, both of Huntington.
Ted was born August 24, 1943 and grew up in Huntington, attending Cammack Elementary and playing Little League baseball at St. Cloud’s. He graduated from Huntington High School, West Virginia University and West Virginia University School of Medicine. He served as a Captain in the United States Army from 1970-1972. He returned to Huntington in 1978 with his family, serving his hometown community as a physician for the next three and a half decades in private practice and at Marshall University School of Medicine in both a teaching role and as a specialist in obstetrics and gynecology. Dr. Haddox delivered thousands of babies and was well known for his caring manner towards his patients.
Ted will be greatly missed by his extended family and friends, who fondly remember his incredible generosity and his love of cooking, sports, rock and roll music, ballroom dancing, marathon running, golf and traveling. Ted was baptized at Baptist Temple in Huntington where he and his wife Judy have been longtime members.
Ted is survived by his wife of 29 years, Judy Haddox of Huntington; three children, Theodore Prescott Haddox III (Michelle) of Morgantown, West Virginia, Dr. Joshua Haddox (Ashley) of Huntington, and Katherine Davis (Nathan) of Whispering Pines, North Carolina; two stepsons, David Love and Scott Love, both of Huntington; ten grandchildren, Alexander Haddox, Sophia Haddox, Theodore Haddox, Patricia Haddox, Jacob Haddox, Isabella Haddox, Owen Davis, Elodie Davis, Shana Love, and Brandee Spry; and three great-grandchildren. He is also survived by his stepmother Anna Haddox of Barboursville and his sister Mary Beth Ross and brother-in-law Joe Ross of Annapolis, Maryland, and four nieces and nephews, Jared Ross, Meredith Brooks, Travis Ross and Kelsey Ross.
A Funeral Service will be Saturday, March 2, 2024 at 2 PM at Beard Mortuary, with Pastor Andrew Magnusson officiating. Visitation will be held beforehand from 1 PM to 2 PM.
