Tomma Lee (Napier) Carter

Born in Dayton, Ohio on August 13th, 1957. She passed away peacefully with love, kisses, and prayers from family and friends on January 23, 2026 at Emogene Dolin Jones Hospice House in Huntington. Tomma was 68 years old.

Tomma is survived by her two children, Andrea Napier and Chad Worden (Kim); her brothers, Mark Napier (Kathleen) and Charles Napier (Thomas) (Lisa); her nine grandchildren, Steven Spaulding, Justice Palmer, Traevon Wilder, Michael Clay, Chassidy Conn (Adrian), Nathanial Clay, Justin Clay, Sarah Worden, and Bethany Worden; her nephews, Brian Napier (Kaitlyn), Jeremy Napier (Sharon), and Jason Napier (Casey), and her niece, Allison Albright (Blake).

She was preceded in death by her husband, Scott Carter; her parents, Charles Thomas Napier and Margaret (Harvey) Napier; her daughter, Brandie Worden; her niece, Sarah Beth Napier, and her grandson, Kelvyn Douglas Melton.

Tomma lived most of her life in Huntington and recently resided in Altizer. She was an active member of the Guyandotte VFW. She lovingly prepared countless meals for the VFW members as well as residents of the Altizer community. Tomma was often sitting in front of her home on Altizer Avenue. She welcomed a neighbor or a stranger to stop by for a meal, enjoy a refreshment, or share a conversation. Tomma should have been a restaurant chef, but instead cooked free meals for the community.

Tomma loved to decorate for the holidays. She had a Christmas tree in every room and went all out to show her love of Christmas and Easter. She loved to garden and have fresh flowers. She was a world class shopper for finding deals and stretching a dollar.

She had an incredible memory and could describe details of events going back to childhood. She was a creative storyteller who tried to persuade that something in her mind really happened. Tomma was direct and outspoken for people who were hurt or marginalized.

Her laughter, wit, advice, and abundant love will be greatly missed by her family and friends.
