James “Jim” Oscar Washington, 91, of Huntington, WV, went to be with the Lord on Friday, February 13, 2026, at his residence. Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, February 17th at 1:00 p.m. at Fellowship Baptist Church with Pastor Greg Wagoner and Pastor Mark Davis officiating. Burial will follow at Woodmere Memorial Park. The family will receive friends on Monday at the church from 4:00–7:00 p.m.
He was born February 3, 1935, in Putnam County, WV, the son of the late Melvin Augustus and Mary Young Washington. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his son, Matthew Washington; sister, Avilea Hensley; brother, Lloyd Washington and a niece, Alicia Anderson.
Jim was a graduate of Huntington East High School and served his Sheet Metal Apprenticeship and was a member of International Sheet Metal Workers and was a Kentucky Colonel.
Jim was a faithful and active member of Fellowship Baptist Church, where he formerly served as Chairman of the Missionary Committee. For more than 26 years, he was instrumental in organizing World Changers volunteers, helping lead countless mission efforts that touched lives both near and far. His servant’s heart and steady leadership were a blessing to his church family and community.
He was the former owner of Washington Roofing and later founded and owned Hearth and Patio in Huntington. Through his work, he built not only successful businesses but lasting relationships and a reputation for integrity and hard work.
He is survived by his loving wife of 51 years, Carolyn Dillion Washington; sons, David (Barbara) Washington of Huntington, Tim (Janie) Washington of Huntington, and Mark Washington of Lexington, KY; grandchildren, Christopher, Shawn, Michael, Adrian, Elizabeth, Valerie and Annie and eleven great-grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews along with a host of extended family members and dear friends who will cherish his memory.
Jim will be remembered for his deep faith, his devotion to his family, and his unwavering commitment to serving others. His legacy of love, service, and steadfast faith will continue to inspire all who knew him.
