Carolyn Rose (Merritt) Williams, 92, of Huntington, WV, passed away peacefully in her sleep on Monday, December 18, 2017. Born in Huntington on July 13, 1925 to the late Frederick G. and Linnie Thacker Merritt, she lived a full and wonderful life with her family and friends. Carolyn was a lifelong member of Fifth Avenue Baptist Church where she and husband Bill taught the toddlers for 17 years.  She was instrumental in building FAB’s day care program.  She dedicated countless volunteer hours to the Jeffrey E. George Comfort House. Carolyn received the WV Distinguished Mountaineer Award in 2011 for her charity work.  She enjoyed serving as Travel Program Chairman for FAB’s Dynamic Adults for many years.  Her beloved husband, William K. “Bill” Williams, preceded her in death in 1997.  She is survived by her daughters, Sharon (Edward) Golanka, Shelley Williams (Mark Montesano), and; son, Andy (Tina) Williams and her grandchildren, Madison and Maxwell. Funeral Services will be held Friday at 12:00 Noon at Beard Mortuary, Huntington, with Pastors Hubert Harvey and Eric Porterfield, officiating. The family will welcome friends at 11:00 A.M. at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may may be made in Carolyn’s honor to Fifth Avenue Baptist Church, PO Box 1056, Huntington, WV, 25701.
