On April 16, 2024 I lost my dear, sweet mom, Ruth Evelyn Wilson. Mom was born on December 22, 1930 in Lockport, New York to the Rev. John E. Bruce and Lina E. Sullivan Bruce, the 2nd to youngest of 8 children. She has one surviving sibling, her sister Nancy (Don) Duty and one surviving child, Valerie Wilson. She was preceded in death by her husband, Jack Wilson, and by her son, William Craig Bruce, as well as six of her siblings, William Bruce, Jane Mikulec, Matte Bell Arnold, Charles Bruce, Marion Flowers Sullivan, and Johnny Bruce. Mom was raised a preacher’s daughter and she and her younger sister Nancy got into much mischief over the years! Ruth was a devoted and loving wife, mother, and daughter. She loved the Lord and attended church faithfully all her life. She attended Huntington First Church of the Nazarene for about 33 years and loved going to church there. Mom was very talented and patient, having made 4 or 5 beautiful quilts all by hand, as well as knitting and crocheting. She was a telephone operator for years, she babysat several little ones at home, and she worked at Walmart as a cashier from the time she was 67 – 72.
And now she has gone to her heavenly home and is reunited with Dad and her son Craig, as well as many others. Love you so much mom…. Will surely miss you.
A Memorial Service will be Wednesday, April 24, 2024 at 3 PM at Beard Mortuary, with Pastor Marc Price officiating. Ruth’s family will be greeting friends beforehand from 2 PM until 3 PM. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Huntington City Mission at www.huntingtoncitymission.kindful.com. Please leave a condolence here for the family.
