Obituary

William Herschell Price, 86, of North Ft Myers, FL, passed away on Saturday, August 2, 2025. He was born on August 4, 1938 to James Wallace Price and Estelle Elizabeth Pemberton Price in Huntington, WV.

He graduated with a Business Management Degree from Marshall University (Class of 1960). While at Marshall University, he was a member of Sigma Phi Epsilon Fraternity and a proud alumni.

William H. Price proudly served in the United States Navy Reserve as a Machinist’s Mate Third Class (MM3).

While living in Huntington, West Virginia, William was a real estate developer who helped develop Glenbrier Country Club, Riverside Country Club, and the Brentwood Village subdivision in Chesapeake, Ohio. He also built and managed numerous apartment properties throughout the West Virginia–Ohio Tri-State area. After relocating to Fort Myers, Florida, he continued his career as a real estate broker with Price Realty & Investment and was a founding member of the National Association of Realtors Property Management Section.

Beyond his professional accomplishments, William will be remembered most for the way he made people feel. To his family and friends, he was simply “Pop.” He was a natural jokester whose playful antics and quick wit brought endless laughter to his children and grandchildren. He had a love for travel and the open road, always happiest with a destination ahead of him and the mountains in view. An adventurer at heart, he embraced adventure, treasured time with his family, and left behind countless memories that will continue to bring smiles for generations.

William is survived by his daughter, Kelly Allyn Price Simpson (Steven DiMauro) of Cleveland, OH; grandson, John Dowdy, granddaughter, Brooke Dowdy (David Gray), great grandchildren, Emma Sophia Gray and Jayden Douglas Gray, all of Cleveland, OH, and grandson, Erick Dowdy (Darrell Baccus) of Ashland, KY; sons, William Barton Price of North Ft Myers, FL; grandson, Adam William Price of Greenville, SC; son, Stephen Cristopher Price of North Ft Myers, FL; granddaughter, Jessica Hannah (Maralyn Hannah), and great grandkids, Zienna and Willow McCleary, "Sir William" Maverick William Wilder Hannah and Millie Jo Hannah, all of Huntington, WV; daughter, Traci Marie Price Gentsch of North Ft Myers, FL and her family: granddaughters, Samantha Kaylan Gentsch Coleman (Brandon Coleman) great grandson Peirce Jackson Coleman and Lindsay Gene Gentsch (Vilim Marijan), all of North Ft Myers, FL, granddaughter, Carly Alexandra Pass (Mitch Pass), great grandson, Nolan Pass, all of Bonita Springs, FL, and grandson, Chris Gentsch (Erika Gentsch) of Ft Myers, FL; He was preceded in death by his sisters, JoAnn Price Moon and Joyce Ellen Price; and his brothers, James L. “Jim” Price and Charles E. Price.

He is survived by his brother, Roy W. “Bus” Price and his wife, Barbara J. Price, of Cumming, Georgia.

William’s final wish was to return home to Huntington, West Virginia. A memorial service celebrating his life will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, August 1, 2026 at Beard Mortuary in Huntington. The interment of his ashes will follow at Noon at Ridgelawn Memorial Park, where he will be laid to rest among his beloved family. Please leave a condolence for William’s family on his guestbook.
