Violet Jane Hughes

Violet Jane Rowe Hughes, 84, of Huntington, went home to be with the Lord on Saturday, June 21, 2008 in St. Mary's Medical Center.  Funeral service will be conducted 2:00 PM, Tuesday, June 24, 2008 at Beard Mortuary with Rev. Jamie Jefferson officiating.  Burial will follow in Oaklawn Cemetery, Huntington.  She was born July 8, 1923 in Huntington, WV a daughter of the late Thomas and Goldie Cremeans Rowe.  She was also preceded in death by her son, Walter Thomas Hughes; three brothers and one sister.  She was a homemaker.  She loved to visit the Fairfield East Senior Citizens and have lunch.  She will be sadly missed by her husband of 65 years, Verlin Hughes ; her children, Patricia A. and William Ramey of Ona, Verlin, Jr. and Bonnie Hughes of Guyandotte, and David Allen Hughes, Sr. of Lesage; daughter-in-law, Jeanie Hughes of Princeton; four sisters, Elanor Dixon and Corrine McCorkle both of Huntington, Ernestine Pine and Carol Carson both of Proctorville, OH; twelve grandchildren, Scott, Michael, Shawn, Debbie, John, Martha, Kari, Jennifer, David Allen, Kesha, Stephanie, and Tyler; eleven great grandchildren, Damian, Carissa, Chloe, Alex, Kristi, Bo, Austin, Kate, Carter, Kylie, and Chance.  Visitation will be from 6 to 8 PM, Monday, June 23, 2008 at Beard Mortuary.  Online condolences may be sent to the family at www.beardmortuary.com.
