Velma G. Blake

Velma G. Wilcox Blake, 73, passed away Saturday, February 13, 2010 in Cincinnati, OH.  Funeral service will be conducted at 2 p.m. Thursday, February 18, 2010 at Beard Mortuary, Huntington with Minister Willie Purdee officiating.  Burial will follow in Ridgelawn Memorial Park, Huntington.  A lifelong resident of Huntington, Velma was born December 14, 1936 in Huntington, a daughter of the late James and Myrtle Long.  She was also preceded in death by her husband, Robert "Dock" Blake.  She was a member of Guyandotte Church of Christ.  She is survived by two sons and daughters-in-law, James R. and LouAnne Wilcox of Cincinnati, OH and Donald C. and Mandi Wilcox of Louisa, KY; one daughter and son-in-law, Debbie and Phil Shoemaker of Proctorville, OH; one sister, Zelpha Adams of Huntington; two step-daughters, Sabrina Edwards of Milton and Gwendena Pinkerton of Indiana; nine grandchildren, Danielle Adkins, Joshua Shoemaker, Sara Shoemaker, Jamie Wilcox-Dunford, April Misner, Jenny Elliott, Kadon Wilcox, Kenlee Wilcox and Garrett Edwards; nine great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.  Friends may call from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, February 17 at the mortuary.  Online condolences may be sent at www.beardmortuary.com
