Shay Alan Cassidy

Shay Alan Cassidy 40, of Winter Park, Florida, went home to be with his Lord, Sunday, March 20, 2011.  Shay was born in Huntington, WV June 30, 1970. He is survived by his mother, Karen Lindsey Dickson, father Carlos Maxwell Cassidy, step-father Dean Dickson, step-mother Janie Kirk Cassidy and birth father Sonny Harris.  He is also survived by his sister, Kristen Cassidy Zban, half sisters Alyssa Cassidy and Caitlin Cassidy all of Huntington; a son Taylor Alexander Cassidy of Altamonte Springs, Florida and daughter Alexandria Shay Cassidy Watts of Huntington, WV.  He had a deep enduring love for his family which includes his aunts, uncles, cousins, nephews and nieces. He was especially thankful for his many friendships including Frankie Eduwardo and Lance Hall of Winter Park, Florida.  Shay graduated from Huntington East High School in 1988. Following his service in the Army he moved to Florida where he was a commercial electrician.  He had a very strong faith and a love for reading; his favorite book was his bible. Shay befriended the lonely, the downtrodden, the outcast, and the homeless.  He offered words of encouragement, a card, a telephone call, food to the hungry and a cup of coffee to the poor.  He touched many lives and will be greatly missed. Donations may be made to Hospice of Huntington or the Healing Place of Huntington in memory of Shay Alan.  Funeral services will be held on Thursday at 2:00 PM at First Presbyterian Church with Rev. Skip Seibel officiating. Burial will follow in Spring Hill Cemetery. The family will receive friends after 1:00 PM at the church. Beard Mortuary is in charge of arrangements.
