Sadie Caldwell Jeffrey

SADIE CALDWELL JEFFREY, 100 of Barboursville, WV, widow of Raymond Jeffrey died at Chateau Grove Senior Living. Sadie was born August 29, 1910 in Boyd County, KY a daughter of the late Benjamin F. and Ellen Davis Caldwell. She came to Cabell County in 1930. She worked in the cafeteria at INCO and Marshall University. Sadie was born and raised in very humble circumstances and all through her life she was blessed with few, if any, advantages. However, she was blessed with determination, a strong work ethic and a strong sense of self reliance. Throughout her long life she was able to support herself and her daughter, neither asking for nor accepting handouts from the government or anyone else. She was preceded in death by her husband of 63 years, Raymond in 2002. She is survived by her daughter Esther Hensley of Barboursville and several nieces and nephews. Sadie's family sincerely thanks the management and staff of Chateau Grove Senior Living for the excellent care she received while a resident there since August 2002. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday at 11:00 AM at Beard Mortuary with Rev. Tommy Jeffrey officiating. Burial will follow in White Chapel Memorial Gardens. Friends may call after 10:00 AM on Wednesday at the mortuary.
