Ruth L. Simonette

Mrs. Ruth L. Simonette, 88, of Huntington, passed away peacefully on Thursday, October 1, 2009 at her home.  Funeral service will be conducted on Sunday, October 4, 2009 at 2:30 PM at Forest Lawn Memorial Gardens mausoleum chapel in Huntington, after which entombment will follow. She was born November 23, 1920 in Huntington, WV, a daughter of the late Charles W. Gibbs Sr. and Inez M. Asbury Gibbs.  She was also preceded in death by her husband, Sam Simonette, who she met during WWII while she was participating in the USO and to whom she was eventually married for more than 50 years; her sister, Martha Louise "Pinky"; and her brother, Charles W. "Chuck" Gibbs Jr.  She was a former manager for Sears drapery department.  She supervised several employees and served the entire tri-state area.  She is survived by her sister, Jeanne Gardner of Huntington;  special niece, Barbara Dale Ragsdale with whom she lived; three very special caregivers, Diania Hall of Kenova, Patricia Clark of Huntington, and Oleta Shelton of Patriot, OH who provided love and care for her to the end.  Visitation will be held on Saturday from 6 – 8 PM at Beard Mortuary, 3001 30th Street, Huntington.  In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to Hospice of Huntington.  Online condolences may be sent to the family at www.beardmortuary.com.
