Rodney Mansford
Elkins
Jul 11, 1945 — Nov 2, 2026
Huntington
Rodney Mansford Elkins, 81, of Huntington, WV passed away Monday, November 2, 2026. Born July 11, 1945, in Lincoln County, WV, he was the son of Columbus David Elkins and Nevada Ivory Elkins (Walls).
A skilled craftsman and talented musician, Rodney was a man whose larger-than-life personality could light up any room. With unmistakable charisma, he had a natural ability of turning strangers into friends and ordinary moments into lasting memories.
A veteran of the United States Army, 3rd Infantry Division, he returned home and spent much of his life working at Jack’s Tile City taking pride in the tile and masonry trade. Beyond his work, music was an important part of his life that he shared with family and friends, leaving a lasting legacy that will continue for generations.
Above all, Rodney will be remembered for his warmth, his charisma, and the joy he brought to those around him. His presence could be felt the moment he entered a room, and his absence will be deeply felt by those who knew him.
He is survived by his wife of 42 years Connie Elkins (Hensley), two beautiful daughters Melissa Ann Cooper (Tracy) of Barboursville, WV, Samantha Jane Elkins (Gary Tiedemann) of Acworth, GA, and a son Rodney Mansford Elkins II (Alexis Saber) of Ashland, Ky. Three granddaughters Kristen LeeAnn Cooper (James) of Lesage, WV, Emily Paige Harless (Brandon) of Hurricane, WV, and the most recent addition Charlotte Maria of Acworth, GA, and five great grandchildren McKenna, Skyla, Remington, Tucker, and Easton of Lesage, WV. He is also survived by one sister, Myrna Gaye Elkins Day of Huntington, WV among a host of nieces and nephews.
Beard Mortuary will be assisting the family. There will be no services. The family would like to personally thank the VA Medical Center, Hospice of Huntington, and Beard Mortuary for their care.
