Obituary

Rodney Stephen Bellomy, 75, of Barboursville,WV formerly of Nashville,TN passed away peacefully June 15th, 2026 surrounded by family. A man of unwavering faith, he transitioned to his eternal home with the Lord, leaving behind a legacy of love and strength.

Born with a spirit of resilience, he was a proud graduate of Huntington East High School. He went on to earn his degree from Marshall University, remaining a loyal son of the Thundering Herd throughout his life.

A veteran of the U.S Army, he served his country with honor. The discipline he forged in the service stayed with him always, manifesting in the quiet strength he provided his family and the deep respect he held for his fellow service members.

His faith was the cornerstone of his existence. As a devout Christian, he lived a life that reflected the grace and compassion of his Savior. He found great comfort in his church community and was a pillar of support for those in need of prayer or a helping hand. He was a faithful member of Faith United Methodist Church until moving to Nashville where he then became an active member of Hillsboro Presbyterian Church.

He was preceded in death by his beloved first wife, Sue Warne Bellomy, and more recently, by his wife, Melinda Lee Culver, parents Diana and James Bellomy, sister-in-law Norma Bellomy and beloved dog Sugar. We take comfort in knowing they are reunited once again. His memory will be cherished and kept alive by his children: Christopher Bellomy and his wife Bridget; Nathaniel “Ryan” Bellomy and his wife Beverly and Andrea White and her husband Zachary. Step-children who became his own, Wyatt Culver (Melissa) and Boyd Culver (Lauren).

He was the "Papaw" who adored his grandchildren: Johnathan Bellomy (Sara), Brianna Bailes (Jacob), his princess Maddy Bellomy (Owen), Austin Culver, Odin White and Jack LaViola. He was also blessed to be a great-grandpa to William, Sullivan, Winnie, and Marnie, who brought immense joy to his later years. He also leaves behind his brother Gregory Bellomy, and his caregiver and second daughter Rachel Herrington.

His life was a testament to the values of faith, family, and country. While we mourn his absence, we celebrate the incredible man he was and the lasting impact he made on everyone who knew him. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Huntington-Cabell-Wayne Animal Shelter or Soldiers’ Angels.

"Well done, thou good and faithful servant." (Matthew 25:21)

A Memorial Service will be held at a later date. Please check back here soon for updated service information, and leave a condolence for his family on his guestbook.
