Retired 1St Sgt. Sam T.M. Elmore

Retired 1st Sgt. Sam T.M. Elmore,77, of Huntington, passed away on Tuesday, June 12, 2018. After his Army retirement he taught JROTC at Huntington High School for the next 20 years. Sam also volunteered at the VA hospital. Sam is survived by his wife, Walterene Lawrence; two sons, Joe Elmore and Robert Elmore; special army buddy, Larry Fisher and various other relatives and friends. Sam was a good husband, father and friend. He was an avid bass fisherman and loved keeping his shooting skills sharpened. Sam will be greatly missed by all who knew him. As per his wishes, there will be no funeral services. He will be placed to rest privately by his family at Donel C. Kinnard Memorial State Veterans Cemetery in Dunbar.
