Opal I. (Leap) Simmons

Opal I. Simmons, 93 of South Point, OH, passed away Tuesday, October 28, 2025 at her residence. She was born August 30, 1932 in Huntington to the late Willy and Viola Leap.

Opal retired from St. Mary's Medical Center after 27 years of service as a Nurses' Aid. She was a member of the Norwood Freewill Methodist Church on Norwood Road in Huntington.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Lucian Simmons; daughter, Pamela Beller; brothers, Woodrow and Herman Leap; sisters, Pearl Porter, Thelma Estep and Blanche Roberts, and her great grandson, Donavon. Opal is survived by her sons, Roger (Mitzi) Beller and Steven "Barry" Beller, all of South Point; step-children, Glenna (Keith) Saunders, Kathy Stone, Angie (Pete) Thomas, Roger (Rhonda) Simmons and Charlie Simmons; grandchildren, Joshua and Kristen Beller of South Point and Shaun and Jennifer Beller of Ashland, KY; 13 great grandchildren and a host of nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be held from 10:30 am to 12 Noon on Saturday, November 1, 2025 at Beard Mortuary, followed by a Funeral Service at 12 Noon. Interment will be in Crook Chapel Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be sent to Community Hospice of Ashland, KY. Please leave a condolence for Opal's family on her tribute wall.
