Nelle H. Hensley Childers

NELLE H. CHILDERS, 97, of Huntington passed away on Sunday, May 14, 2017. Born on February 24, 1920, in Kanawha County, W.Va., she was a daughter of the late Conice C. Hensley and Matilda Meade Hensley. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband Lowell D. Childers; sister Lila Bauer and her brother Jack Hensley. Nelle was a member of the Norway Avenue Church of Christ for many years and was a retired school teacher for Mingo County. She enjoyed bird watching and loved her family and the Lord. Nelle is survived by a niece and nephew; two great-nieces and two great-nephews; a special niece, Betty Swan of Bradenton, Fla., and her two friends whom she loved as daughters, Molly and Dolly. There will be a graveside service at 1 p.m. Wednesday, May 17, 2017, at Spring Hill Cemetery, Huntington.
