Myrtle V. Matthews

Myrtle V. Matthews, 98 of Huntington, WV, passed away on Thursday June 26, 2008 in St. Mary's Medical Center. Graveside services will be held on Monday at 1:00 PM at Forest Lawn Cemetery, Peck's Mill, WV.  She was born July 15, 1909 a daughter of the late Linford D. and Lake Lewis Browning. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, Orville W. Matthews, sisters, Leona Hatfield, Lura Hinchman and Dora Tooley and brothers, Moss, Wayne, Alvon and Arnold Browning. She was a member of the Bruce McDonald United Methodist Church. Myrtle was a retired school teacher having taught at Mallory Elementary School. She is survived by her beloved sister, Marjorie Sheets of Huntington; nieces, Harriet (Bernard) Starr, Mildred Hensley, Jeanne Leary, Betty Arbaugh and Peggy Campbell, nephews, Thomas (Susan) Sheets and Robert (Gayle) Browning and a host of family, friends and caregivers. Beard Mortuary is in charge of arrangements.
