Michael Krasnow

MICHAEL A. KRASNOW lost his battle with brain cancer on September 2, 2015.  Residing in Boca Raton, Florida, Michael was a practicing ophthalmologist in Huntington WV for nearly 25 years, a faculty member of the Joan C. Edwards School of Medicine, and served as the first chairman of the Department of Ophthalmology.  He loved nothing more than being a doctor.  Born on March 26, 1945 to Helen and Leonard Krasnow in Worcester, Massachusetts, Michael is survived by his wife Lisa, step-daughters Katie and Jordan Sheils, brother David Krasnow and his beloved greyhounds, Louie and Artie.  He leaves behind close friends, Jim Becker, Joe Shapiro and Steven Singer as well as his office manager, Bettie Chapman, his office staff and the staff at the Cabell-Huntington Surgery Center, all of whom he considered family.  If you managed to get past his sometimes crusty exterior, you met a brilliant mind, a skilled physician who cared about his patients, and a true friend.  A gathering of friends will be held at a later date.  Expressions of sympathy may be made to Hospice of Huntington.
