Michael David "Mike" Black, 61 of Barboursville, WV passed away on Monday February 22, 2010 at the Emogene Dolin Hospice House. Funeral services will be held on Thursday at 1:00 p.m. at Beard Mortuary with Rev. David Lemming officiating. Burial will follow at Ridgelawn Memorial Park. He was born February 17, 1949 in Matewan, WV a son of Dortha Baker Black of Chesapeake, OH and the late Don Black. In addition to his father he was preceded in death by a granddaughter, Jennifer Nicole Black. He attended Lewis Memorial Baptist Church. He was a sixteen year employee of Steel of WV and a member of the United Steelworkers Union Local 37. He was in the Army Reserve. Mike was an avid outdoorsman, he loved the mountains, his Harley, fishing, biking and most of all he enjoyed his family and helping others. He is survived by his loving family, his wife, Marlene Bailey Black; a daughter and son-in-law, Michelle and Shawn Dunfee of Ona, WV; son, Michael David Black, II and wife, Stephanie of Willow Wood, OH; three brothers and sisters-in-law, Larry and Donna Black of South Point, OH; Doug and Nancy Black of Chesapeake, OH and Tim and Stella Black of Huntington; a sister and brother-in-law, Donita and Mark Burns of Barboursville, WV; his mother-in-law, Dorothy Foster of Culloden, WV; two step-sons, Jessie Dickens and his wife, Kristi of Pittsburgh, PA and Jeremy Dickens and his wife, Megan of Elmira, New York; seven grandchildren; an uncle and aunt, Clay and Ann Baker of Patriot, OH; several nieces, nephews, a host of co-workers and friends including special friends, Rocky (Dee) Adkins, Steve Carter, Al Williamson and Frank Lusher. Those who wish may make memorial contributions to Hospice of Huntington. Online condolences may be sent to the family at www.beardmortuary.com. The family will receive friends from 6-9 p.m. on Wednesday at the mortuary.
