Maxine Simmons

Maxine Effingham Simmons, 81, of Huntington, widow of Charles E. Simmons, passed away Tuesday, November 27, 2007 in St. Mary's Medical Center.  Visitation will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday, November 29, 2007 at Beard Mortuary, Huntington.  Graveside services will be private.  She was born February 1, 1926, a daughter of the late Leroy and Erma Baugh Effingham.  She was also preceded in death by two brothers, Charles Vernon Effingham and Raymond Effingham and one daughter, Yvonne Sue Roach.  She is survived by one son and daughter-in-law, Jerrell Lee and Marlene Simmons of Huntington; two daughters and sons-in-law, Lois Ann and Jimmy Barber of Fayetteville, NC and Misty Dawn and Mike Nicholas of Huntington; four grandchildren, Lane Austin Simmons and his wife, Sarah of Springfield, MO, Jimmy Manfred Barber II and his wife, Shanna of Fayetteville, NC, Brandi Nicholas of Huntington and David Ryan Nicholas of Huntington; three great grandchildren, Blake Warren Barber of Fayetteville, NC, Liam Manfred Barber of Fayetteville, NC and Zechariah Lee Simmons of Springfield, MO; one sister, Louise Herring of Boise, ID, and one brother and sister-in-law, Larry and Dorothy Effingham of Parkersburg, WV.
