Marion "Maureen" Patrick Lucas Woosley, 83, of Huntington went to be with the Lord on June 1, 2024, at the Emogene Dolin Hospice House of Huntington after a long illness. The family will receive friends on Thursday from 5:00 – 7:00 p.m. at Beard Mortuary. She was born April 29, 1941, in Huntington, WV, daughter of the late Elmo and Sarah Simmons Patrick. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 40 years, Dwight L. Woosley and a son-in-law, Rodney Campbell. She was a 1959 graduate of Huntington East High School and was very active in planning and attending class reunions. After high school she graduated from Marshall University with a degree in Primary Education. She was a retired 1st grade schoolteacher for decades, mainly at Barboursville Elementary School. Mrs. Woosley loved children beyond measure and made great educational impressions on her students and the community. She was also a tremendous, loving mother, rarely missing her children's activities while they were growing up whether in sports, church, graduations, and beyond.  She was always there for everyone no matter what and was a loving and supportive person. Most of all, she was a devout Christian woman who loved her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ and is without question with him now!

Maureen served the Lord in church as a Sunday School Teacher, Nursery Worker, Choir Member, and Deaconess chair at the former Highlawn Baptist Church, she is a current member of Lewis Memorial Baptist Church where she served as a member of the Good News Club which taught elementary school children about the love of Jesus.

Maureen is survived by two sisters: Roberta Capen (Craig) of Gaithersburg, MD, and Annabel Dayhoff (Carl) of Huntington, three children: Scott Lucas of Huntington, WV, Natalie McQuaid (Robert) of Chesapeake Ohio, and Patrick Lucas (Paula) of Barboursville. She was also a Nanna to 5 grandchildren: Ashley Epstein of Louisville KY, Zachary Lucas of High Point NC, Joshua Lucas of Wheelersburg OH, Steven Lucas of Chesapeake, OH, and Samantha Lucas of Barboursville, WV, five great-grandchildren, and seven Nieces and Nephews. She is also survived by her friends who were too numerous to mention, Sunday School Class members, fellow teachers, the ladies in her Tanda Teens Campfire Girls Group, a group of twelve ladies (only four survive) who had remained friends for more than 60 years, and so many more in the community. The family would like to thank all personnel involved with Maureen's care during her residency at The Wyngate, Barboursville, Dr. Tackett and his critical care nurses at HIMG, and the tremendous care she received in her last days at St Mary's Hospital and Hospice House of Huntington.
