Margaret Louise Gleason Johnston, 91 of Huntington, WV died Sunday, August 5, at Heritage Center. Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Thursday August 9, at 11:00 AM at St. Joseph Catholic Church with Monsignor Lawrence Luciana Officiating. Burial will follow in Spring Hill Cemetery. The family will receive friends after 10:00 AM in the Connection at St. Joseph Church. Mrs. Johnston was born July 3, 1916 in Germantown, KY., the daughter of the late John and Margaret Bonfield Gleason. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by two brothers and three sisters. She lived most of her early years in Ashland, KY., where she graduated from Holy Family High School. In 1939, she graduated as a registered nurse from St. Mary's Hospital School of Nursing. For several years during World War II, she worked at the Veterans Administration Hospital in Dayton, Ohio. She returned to Huntington where she worked in the office of several surgical physicians. In 1946, Mrs. Johnston married Donald Dial Johnston. He preceded her in death in 1977. Mrs. Johnston was among the first nursing staff of Cabell-Huntington Hospital. She retired from the hospital in 1982. Mrs. Johnston was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church and Catholic Daughters of America. She was a former member of the Huntington Mothers Club. Survivors include her daughter and son-in-law, Ann and George Rorrer of Fort Wright, Ky., son and daughter-in-law, Joe and Rita Ryan Johnston of Huntington; sisters, Marcella Corkrean and Patricia Alderman, both of Huntington; five grandchildren, Jennifer Haas of Fort Wright, Ky., Beth Haas of Charleston, SC., Corey Johnston of Austin, TX, and Mallory and Zack Johnston of Huntington, and one great-granddaughter, Kasey Haas of Fort Wright, Ky.
