Lula Mae (Cooper) Postlethwait

Postlethwait, Lula M., 89 of Huntington, WV, passed away Tuesday, August 13, 2024 at Emogene Dolin Jones Hospice House. She was born February 18, 1935 in Midway, Putnum County, WV to the late Seybert and Goldie (Turman) Cooper.

Lula married George G. Postlethwait in December of 1953 and they enjoyed many wonderful years together. She was a member of the Madison Avenue Christian Church for over 60 years and was a part of the Christian Women's Fellowship and the Campbell Sunday School Class.

Lula loved her family, especially going on beach trips with them, where she loved the ocean and walking on the beach. On these trips and nights with her family she enjoyed playing board games and cards. She was very active with her children growing up and was a homeroom Mother. Lula loved baking cookies for family and friends, working puzzles, crocheting and was an avid reader. She also loved her plants, both inside and outside, as well as listening to classical music, especially Andre Bocelli.

In addition to her parents and husband, Lula was preceded in death by her son-in-law, Rick Flowers; brother, Gordon Cooper and sisters, Faye Parmes, Vicki Hudnall, Joan Fetty, Patricia Postlethwait and Kay Postlethwait. She is survived by her daughters, Katrina (MacDonald) Morris of Huntington and Gerlinde Flowers of Ashville, NC; brother, Jerry Cooper of Natalia, TX; grandchildren, Marian (Christian) White of Huntington, Caleigh Morris of Cincinnati, Rhett Flowers and Ingrid Hedrick, as well as many nieces and nephews.

A Celebration of Lula's life will be held at 2 PM on Saturday, August 17, 2024 at Madison Avenue Christian Church, with Pastor Tracy Mills officiating. Her family will greet friends beforehand from 1 to 2 PM at the church. Memorial contributions are suggested to Madison Avenue Christian Church, St. Jude or Hospice of Huntington.
