Lois Hurley Hill, 89, formerly of South Williamson, Kentucky, died on March 3, 2025, at The Village of Riverview in Barboursville, WV.

She was born on December 2, 1935, the daughter of the late Jerry and Maxine Hurley. She was preceded in death by her husband, Jimmie C. Hill; her siblings Elsie Francis, Edith Felty, Margaret Stollings, Earl Hurley, Bob Hurley, and Fred Hurley; and her very close friend of 70 years, Joyce Roddy.

Lois graduated from Williamson High School in 1955 and began her career as a switchboard operator at the C & P Telephone Company, where she met her future husband. She later worked in the loan office at The First National Bank of Pikeville in the South Williamson Branch.

Lois loved to travel and visited many beautiful places. One of her most impactful trips was a mission trip to Mexico where she helped build houses and made many heartfelt connections with the local people. Known for her quick wit and humor, she loved making people laugh and always had a joke ready with impeccable timing. She never met a stranger and was quick to give a compliment or a word of encouragement.

An active member of the First Baptist Church of Williamson, Lois enjoyed taking the lead in church plays, giving devotionals, and singing in the choir. She was also known for her community service, providing free haircuts to residents unable to leave their homes and always taking time to visit them. Her creativity in writing and art has left her family with a lasting legacy of her accomplishments.

She is survived by her daughter, Terri (Ralph) Hagy; her son, Mark (Susan) Hill; her grandchildren, Ralph Joseph (Brittany) Hagy, Mark Jordan (Margaret) Hagy, Jimmie Ryland Hill, Christian Seth (Lauren) Hill, and Madison Leigh (Tristan) Still; her great-granddaughters, Luciana Caroline, Mia Rose, Elowyn Vincenziana, Sutton Josephine, and Juliet Jordan; and her great-grandson, John Roman Raphael. She also leaves behind her beloved friend of 78 years, Margaret Finley; dear friend, Judy Southard; and special neighbors, Andy and Lisa Ashurst, and Frank and Terry Giordano.

The family expresses their heartfelt gratitude for the care she received from her caregivers at the Village at Riverview.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Hospice of Huntington, The First Baptist Church of Williamson, or flood relief efforts in southern West Virginia and Eastern Kentucky.

A private family graveside service will be held at Mountain View Memory Gardens in Maher, WV. A Celebration of her life will be held in Williamson at a later date. Beard Mortuary is assisting the family.
