LELAND M. HOBURG, 46 of Huntington, W.Va., passed away on Monday, January 20, 2014, at St. Mary's Medical Center. He was born February 1, 1967, in Galesburg, Ill., the son of Ronald and Sheila Ervin Hoburg. He was preceded in death by a son Jaymz Leland Hoburg. In addition to his parents he is survived by his loving wife Melissa Reeves Hoburg; a son Rory Leland; two daughters, Elizabeth of Boise, Idaho and Brittany of Woodhull, Illinois; two nephews, Aidan and Evan; and two grandchildren, Wyatt and Raven Marie; and many other family members and friends. Leland was very active in the Boy Scouts of America. He was an Eagle Scout and also in the Order of the Arrow. He was a local Scout Master with Scout Troop 7, a Cub Master for Pack 7 and an Eagle Scout mentor. He was a member of the Society for Creative Anachronism, with a love for fencing, brewing, storytelling and cooking medieval cuisine. He received his MBA from Western Illinois University. Leland was a lifelong Steelers fan, a Mason, a teacher and a published author. Those who wish make donations to St. Jude in his memory. The family will receive friends on Sunday from 4 to 9 p.m. at St. Cloud Commons, 1701 Jackson Avenue, Huntington, WV 25704. Beard Mortuary is in charge of arrangements.
