Karen "Susie" (Nida) Hodges

Hodges, Karen (Susie) age 74, formerly of Culloden, peacefully passed away Tuesday,

December 26, 2023.

Susie is survived by her two loving children, Sarah Beth Hodges and Robert Edward

Hodges; three truly special grandchildren, Jacob Ryan Hodges and his partner Sydney

Gibson, Katelynn Gayle Rayburn and her partner Lee Hubbard, and Holden Carson; five

wonderful siblings, Judith Ann Napier, Sandra Elanie Hill, Ramona Sanders, Richard

Alan Nida, and Shari Ann Means.

She is preceded in death by her loving husband, John Hodges; father, Roy Nida; mother,

Violet Nida; son, John R. Hodges II, and sister, Wilda June Browning.

Susie was born on February 2, 1949 to Roy and Violet Nida. She graduated in 1966 from

Hamlin High School and attended Marshall University for two years after. She became a

realtor shortly after Marshall. On June 27, 1969 she married John, a salesman/ finance

manager at several local car dealerships. On January 9th, 1981, April 11th, 1981 and

December 11th, 1981 she welcomed her daughter and two sons into the world, who were

the most important part of her life.

Susie was a devoted mother, grandmother and sister. She enjoyed spending time with

family. She always made sure that the people she loved and knew were taken care of

before herself. She will be deeply missed by friends, family, and all who knew her.

A Funeral Service is scheduled for 1:30 PM on January 2nd at Beard Mortuary in

Huntington.  Her family will be receiving friends beforehand from 12 Noon to 1:30 PM. The service will be led by Pastor Timothy Dixon from Grace Christian
