Joseph A. Mueller passed away on July 15, 2026 at his residence. Joe was born in Cincinnati, OH to the parents of Joseph J. and Marie Mueller on September 13,1 931. In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his first wife of 49 years, Martha “Marty” Waugh Mueller, he is also preceded by his second wife of 18 years, Beverly “Bev” Fricke Mueller and a sister Mary B. Krueger. With his parents, Joe moved to Huntington in 1938 and has been a lifelong resident. He graduated from Sait Joseph Catholic School in 1949 where he played baseball and Basketball. He graduated in 1953 from Xavier University, Cincinnati, OH, where he was enrolled in the ROTC and Business Programs. Joe also played four years of Baseball and two years of Basketball for the Musketeers.

Joe served in the United States Army as a First Lieutenant, stationed in Aschaffenburg, Germany. After completing his tour of duty, he joined his father in the family business, Mueller White Truck Company, Huntington, WV. The company sold and serviced heavy and medium duty trucks and trailers.

Later, Joe joined R.F. Steiner Company in Huntington as their sales manager of heavy and medium duty trucks and school buses. He retired from there after 21 years.

In his 47 years of truck management and sales, he sold to local and surrounding areas of WV, OH and KY. Trucks of all sizes and specifications were sold to meet the requirements of the business. His sales were to the oil, coal, and chemical industries, to the WV Dept. of Highways, to municipalities, individuals, and school buses to many West Virginia counties.

Joe’s family was most important to him. A family, based on love and the foundation of the home, Marty and Joe raised four children forming a very close and loving family. They shared their Catholic faith, their togetherness and support, and a lifetime of Bonding with each other.

Joe has been a member of Our Lady of Fatima Catholic Church since 1955. For over 70 years, he served in many capacities such as a Eucharistic Minister, Usher, Reader and Instructor of Alter Servers.

Sports was another of Joe’s loves. If a ball was involved, Joe loved it, participating or watching. Joe was involved with the youth of the Tri-State area. He coached Little League basketball. He also refereed middle and high school basketball games. He followed Marshall University football and basketball programs and Xavier sports, his Alma mater. Joe really enjoyed vacationing with his family and led a very busy and interesting faith-filled life.

Joe is survived by his four children; Catherine Marie Dreibholz, of Boca Raton, FL; Michael Joseph (Jeanne) Mueller of Naples, FL; David Joseph Mueller (Tonyia) of South Point, OH; and Jeanne Ann (Marc) Mullins of Huntington, WV. Joe has nine grandchildren; Christina (Ben) Salehi, Seattle, WA; Elizabeth (Jared) Salter of South Orange, NJ; Frederick Dreibholz of Tucson, AZ; Joseph (Nathalie) Mueller, New Albany, OH; Dr. Jaclyn (Rakesh) Mueller Goyal of Baltimore, MD; Jon Mueller of Philadelphia, PA and Jordan Mueller of Naples, FL; Austin (Paige) Mueller Distel of Austin, TX and Miranda Mullins of Denver, CO.

He also has five grandchildren: Joseph and Abigail Salehi, Alice and Jude Salter and Baby Boy, Austin Mueller Distel.

Joe is survived by many nieces and nephews.

We will all dearly miss Joe’s love, smiles, hugs and wonderful sense of Humor. He will be greatly missed.

Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Wednesday, July 29th at 11:00 a.m. at Our Lady of Fatima Church, with Fr. Smay officiating. Interment will follow at Spring Hill Cemetery. A Celebration of Life reception will follow in the Parish Hall. The family will receive friends prior to the service at the church from 9:30 a.m. – 11:00 a.m.
