Joseph D. Beter

Joseph D. Beter 82 of Huntington, WV died Friday Nov. 13, 2009 at the Emogene Dolin Hospice House. Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Monday at 10:00 AM at Our Lady of Fatima Church with Father Jim Sobus officiating. Burial will follow in Spring Hill Cemetery. He was born Oct. 13, 1927 in Huntington, WV a son of the late David and Sophie Maroon Beter. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his wife, Jean Henderson Beter, a son, David Beter, two brothers, Peter and Thomas Beter and a sister, Mary Beter. He was a U.S. Navy Veteran and was a member of Our Lady of Fatima Church and the Elks Lodge BPOE 313. He was a roll man for H.K. Porter, Conner's Steel and WV Steel. He is survived by a daughter and son-in-law, Debra F. and Dan Egnor of Huntington; a brother, George Beter of Huntington, two sisters, Edna Merritt of Lawrenceville, GA and Georgette Greene of Las Vegas, NV; two grandchildren, Kenny and Rachael Beter; a daughter-in-law, Teresa Beter and several nieces and nephews. Those who wish may make memorial contributions to Hospice of Huntington. The family will receive friends on Sunday from 5:00 – 7:00 PM at Beard Mortuary a Rosary will be held at 6:00 PM.
