John Brent Vaughan

John Brent Vaughan, 60, of Huntington, WV, formerly of Dunbar, WV, passed away after a courageous battle with cancer. A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, DECEMBER 6th, at Beard Mortuary at 1:00 p.m. with Pastor Jody Fortner officiating. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service.

Brent was born on May 14, 1965, in Charleston, WV, the son of the late John Starks Vaughan and Jerry Lee Vaughan of Covington, VA. He was a 1983 graduate of Dunbar High School and attended Marshall University, where he was a proud member of Lambda Chi Alpha Fraternity.

In his younger years, Brent was a member of Dunbar First Baptist Church and more recently attended Sunshine Freewill Baptist Church. He was an Army Veteran, honorably served in the Gulf War, including Operation Desert Shield and Operation Desert Storm.

After returning home, Brent worked as a Letter Carrier for the United States Postal Service.

In addition to his mother, Jerry, he is survived by his sister and brother-in-law, Laura and Ronnie Bush, and niece, Shanna Bailey, all of Covington; his longtime fiancée, Rebecca "Becky" Grant Wise of Huntington; her children, Mary Morgan and Chilton Wise; as well as his close group of Lambda Chi Alpha brothers, with whom he shared lifelong friendship and biannual camping trips.
