John J. & Susan R. Dzurenka

John Joseph Dzurenka, Jr., 80, and Susan Ruby Iannucci Dzurenka, 79, of Barboursville, WV, formerly of Deep River, CT, both passed away as a result of a motor vehicle accident.  John passed away on May 8, 2023 and Susan passed away on May 19, 2023, both at St. Mary's Medical Center, Huntington, WV.  John was born September 21, 1942 at Providence, RI, a son of the late John Joseph Sr. and Helen Capron Dzurenka, and Susan was born July 10, 1943 at New Haven, CT, a daughter of the late Frederick and Angelina Chevett Civitello Iannucci.  John retired as a landscaper.  He was protestant by faith, a member of the Deep River Chester Lions Club in Connecticut and the American Legion Post No. 21 in Rogersville, TN.  Susan retired after a 35 year career of teaching school.  She was Roman Catholic by Faith and a member of Sacred Heart Mission in Point Pleasant, WV where she served as a Lay Eucharistic Minister, she also served as an Officer of the American Legion Post No. 21 Auxiliary.    John was preceded in death by his parents, one brother and sister-in-law, Richard and Irene Dzurenka.  Susan was preceded in death by her parents, two brothers, Lawrence Iannucci and Frederick Iannucci, Jr. Survivors include one son, John Joseph Dzurenka, III (Ruth Jael Torres Viveros); two daughters, Lucy Marie and Elizabeth Thomas (John); six grandchildren, Amber Jane Steady (Joe), Mary Helen Dale Thomas, Alice Colette Jane Thomas, Eric Beaupre, Divina Beaupre and Alexander Lucas; and one great-great grandchild on the way; John's brother, Kenneth Dzurenka (Beverly); Susan's sister Alice Iannucci Carrano (Andrew); Susan's brother, David Iannucci (Amanda); Susan's sister-in-law, Lynn Iannucci and a host of additional family and friends too numerous to mention.  Funeral services will be conducted at noon on Friday, May 26, 2023 at Beard Mortuary in Huntington, WV.  Burial will follow in the Kentucky Veterans Cemetery North East in Grayson, KY.  Visitation will be held from 10:00 a.m. until service time Friday at the funeral home.
