John W. Meehling, Sr., 77 of Proctorville, OH, passed away Monday, July 6, 2026. He was born August 5, 1948 to the late Lester Otis and Norma Ruth Spencer Meehling. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers, Lester Otis “Buck” Meehling and Ronald Lee Meehling.

John was a proud U.S. Army Vietnam Veteran. He worked most of his life, 32 years, at ACF Industries. John was a lifetime member of the VFW in Guyandotte and the American Legion in Barboursville.

He was an avid motorcyclist, who loved to ride and take trips to the beach. John never saw a stranger and could talk and laugh with the best of them. He will be missed so much.

John is survived by his wife of 12+ years, Peggy Sue Maynard Meehling; two sons, John W. (Ara) Meehling, II and Chad R. (Tina) Meehling; three granddaughters, Sophia, Scarlett and Sydney Meehling; brothers, Frank and Roger Meehling; special niece and nephew, Abby Maynard and Nicholas Maynard as well as his other nieces and nephews; father and mother-in-law, Jim and Clercie Maynard and two brothers-in-law, Jimmy (Lisa) Maynard and Bobby (Angie) Maynard.

A Funeral Service will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, July 11, 2026 at Beard Mortuary, with Visitation beforehand from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. Interment with Military Honors will follow the services, at Rome Proctorville Cemetery.
