John Wesley Fetty

John Wesley Fetty, 92, of Huntington, widower of Lora Dell Brafford Fetty, passed away on Saturday, February 27, 2010 at the Emogene Dolin-Jones Hospice House. He was born on April 29, 1917 in Huntington, a son of the late Gallatin Jackson and Grace Catherine Fetty. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by five brothers, Paul, Lawrence, Lester, Haven, and Damon. He is survived by his daughter, Sheila Kay Fetty Mays of Indianapolis, IN; three grandchildren, D'Leah Renee (Bill) Sanders, David Shane (Shelly) Mays, and Weston Lee Mays; six great-grandchildren, Morgan Elizabeth Sanders, Kathryn Ashley Sanders, Brooklyn Jean Sanders, Lauren Renee Sanders, Kayla Marie Mays, and Xander Shane Mays; and one "brother", Don Hall. John enjoyed hunting and fishing, and he bowled weekly on the senior team. He was employed making TNT during WWII and worked for Houdaille Industries, American Vending Machine Company, and he retired from the City of Huntington Sanitation Department. As a young man John committed his life to the Lord and was baptized. He previously served as an elder at the Highlawn, Guyandotte, and Beverly Hills Churches of Christ. At the time of his death he was a member of the Beverly Hills Church of Christ. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, March 3, 2010 at 11:00 a.m. at Beard Mortuary with Minister Wayne Carter officiating. Entombment will follow at White Chapel Memorial Gardens.
