John R. Carey, 84, of Proctorville, OH, passed away peacefully on Thursday, February 28, 2008 at the Emogene Dolin Jones Hospice House, Huntington, WV.  A celebration of life will be held at 10 a.m. Monday, March 3, 2008 at Beard Mortuary, Huntington with the Rev. Don Irby officiating.  Burial will follow in White Chapel Memorial Gardens, Barboursville.  He was born May 29, 1923 in Huntington, WV, a son of the late Clarence E. and Sybil R. Fitzgerald Carey.  He was also preceded in death by his wife of 53 years, Marion Keatley Carey; two brothers, Clarence E. Carey, Jr. and Jimmy Carey; and one sister, Jean Chaffin.  Mr. Carey was an Army veteran having served as a Staff Sergeant during WWII in the Philippines' Island of Cebu.  He was an avid fisherman and golfer and was retired from C & P Telephone Company with 36 years of service.  All who knew him will never forget the jokes he told, his kind ways and sweet personality.  We can only hope to be the type of person he was.  He will be greatly missed until we see him again.  He is survived by two daughters and sons-in-law, Dianne and Sam Casella of Proctorville and Kim and Ben Ellis of Chesapeake; two grandchildren, Samantha Casella of Proctorville and Johnathan Casella and his wife, Jamie of Proctorville; and one great grandson, Jace Hunter Casella.  Friends may call from 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday, March2, 2008 at Beard Mortuary.  In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Hospice of Huntington.  Online condolences may be sent at www.beardmortuary.com.  "The ones we love never truly die – they live on in our hearts, and remain with us forever".
