John Kavanaugh Bush

Mr. John Kavanaugh Bush, 73 of Huntington, WV, formerly of Mechanicsville, MD was called home to eternal rest on February 21, 2023 at his home.  He was born on February 25, 1949 to the late Mr. Andrew Bush and Ms. Bernadine Dent. John was educated in the St. Mary's County Public School System, where later in his life he returned as a Lead Custodian for various schools throughout the county for over seven years. John was also employed by Galilee Baptist Church, where he not only served as a deacon of the church, but also as a servant to the most high God. He was enjoyed there as the Top Flight Custodian.  John loved to listen to jazz, while enjoying color by number on his iPad. John was a very picky eater, and would make faces at anything related to grease. John was a sharp dresser, he enjoyed shopping for his classy suits, cuffs included. John wore those suits in the hottest of weather, and even at events where everyone else was dressed down. Mostly John loved to spend time with his family and loved to share pictures of his two children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. In addition to his parents, John was preceded in death by a host of other family members, in whom in loved dearly.  John leaves to cherish his memory, one son Dwayne M. Young (Sarah) of Lexington Park MD; his lovely daughter LaTonyna R. Bush of Huntington, West Virginia; one bonus son William Harper (Tynisha) of Waldorf MD; his grandchildren Donita R. Young of Oakville MD, Renee Bush of Huntington WV, DeOnia Bush of Huntington WV, LaNiya Bush of Huntington WV; John also leaves four bonus grandchildren LaToya R. Williams and Alexia Shantel-Ronique Chase-Brown both of Lexington Park MD, Joseph Harper and Laila Harper of Waldorf MD; John leaves his great grandchildren Zhamaria Ford of Oakville MD, Avari Bush-Hayes of Huntington WV, Toquan Hayes of Huntington WV, and LaiLani Bush of Huntington WV; three brothers, Clearance Bush, Thomas Bush (Helen) and George Bush all of MD; three sisters Della Smith (Robert), Clarice Young, Margaret Moore (William); a special niece Bernice Baker whom he spoke of often; and a very special friend Ms. Rose Harper.  A visitation will be held from 12 until 1 Saturday, March 4, 2023 at Beard Mortuary in Huntington followed by a 2:00 graveside service at Baylous Cemetery, Salt Rock, WV.  A procession will leave Beard Mortuary at 1:15 p.m.
