James Stanley Spurlock

JAMES S. SPURLOCK, 60, of Ona, husband of Benita Basenback Spurlock, passed away at his home on Saturday, September 4, 2010. He was born on September 26, 1949 in Cabell County, a son of the late Emmett and Tressie Adkins Spurlock. Inaddition to his parents he was preceded in death by one brother, Estel Clark. In addition to his wife he is survived by four children, Jessica Spurlock of Barboursville, Brianna Spurlock of Ona, Chad Spurlock of Huntington and Krista (Ronnie) Chapman of Ona; eight grandchildren, James Chapman, Alexandrea Arnold, Brayden Arnold, Logan Baldwin, Brandon James, Rae-Anne Spurlock, Kyler Spurlock, and Kae-Lee Spurlock; one sister, Patty (Nick) Beever of Huntington; one brother, Tony (Virena) Spurlock of Wayne Co; Step-Father, Charles "Buddy" Clark; Father and Mother in law, Howard and Patricia Basenback; special friend, David Harbour; and a host of other friends and family. He was a 38 year employee of Sturm Machine Shop (now Sulzer Pump) and the President of I.A.M. Union Local Lodge 2798. Funeral Services will be conducted on Wednesday, September 8, 2010 at 2:00 p.m. at Beard Mortuary, Huntington, with Rev. Phillip Bowen officiating. Burial will follow at White Chapel Memorial Gardens, Barboursville. Friends may call Wednesday afternoon from 12:00 p.m. until time of the service at the mortuary.
