James "Pat" Patrick Edge

James "Pat" Patrick Edge, 96 of Huntington, WV, passed away Wednesday, October 23, 2024 at St. Mary's Medical Center. He was born April 8, 1928 in Huntington to the late William W. and Margaret Mary (Carey) Edge.

Pat graduated from Huntington East High School in 1946. He was a Veteran, serving in the U.S. Army from 1946 to 1947. During that time he was a clerk typist and also worked on guard duty. Pat then attended Marshall College from 1948 to 1950. Afterward, he became a trainee until 1952 for INCO, where he worked for 36 ½ years, retiring on January 1, 1987. From 1952-1966 he was a shop mechanic, working in all departments of the plant and 1966-1980 he was assigned to the strip mill. In 1980 he was assigned to welding products, where he worked until 1982. Then, from 1982 until his retirement, he worked again as a shop mechanic.  After his retirement, he was known for building magnificent model boats and ships, each one often taking many months to complete.

Pat married Mary Ann Lafon in 1948 and they enjoyed 56 wonderful years together before her passing in 2004. He will be remembered for how much he loved his family and for his big smile.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Mary Ann (Lafon) Edge and brother, William David Edge. Pat is survived by his three children and their spouses, David P. (Tammy J. (Worthington)) Edge of Lexington, KY, Denise (Dale) Kennedy of Huntington, and Daniel "Danny" (Yvonne (Cazad)) Edge of Lexington; grandchildren, Whitley J. (Trei) Tackett, Shelby P. (Ethan D.) Hardin, Nickolas Patrick Edge and Braxton Lee Edge, all of Lexington, Corissa (Shane) Slark of Georgetown, KY, Steve (Bridget) Kennedy of St. Petersburg, FL and Breanna (Everardo) Kennedy of Huntington; great-grandchildren, Asher D. and Jasper D. Tackett, Gabriel D. Hardin, Victoria Grace Edge, Benjamin and Baylei Slark, Mason Kennedy and Dominic and Rio Arreola.

A closed private service will be held Nov. 7th at Woodmere Memorial Park.  Per his request, he will be laid to rest beside his beloved wife. Please leave an online condolence for Pat's family on his tribute wall.
