Jack Conrad Gilkerson

April 25, 1936 — September 16, 2011

JACK CONRAD GILKERSON, 75, left this earth and was reunited with the Lord and was met by all his family that went before him on Friday, September 16, 2011.  He is so unbelievably missed by Nancy and LeAnne, his wife and daughter.  Also by his sister Yvonne (Bev) and brother, Drew (Pat) and was so loved by all nieces and nephews, along with the many people who called him friend. He was preceded in death by a brother, Paul Gilkerson, and two sisters, Gwendolen White and Myra Brumfield. He was such a strong loving man who had great pleasure for the simple things; they made him happy, the best being a good day of fishing.  His family hopes that he had that kind of day.  He was a retired Electrician with IBEW Local 317 and after continued to contribute as a retiree and he would always help anyone who needed it.  The men he knew in the local he considered a true brotherhood.  He held a great deal of gratitude and confidence in Dr. Eugenia Jarrell and Laura and Amy.  Visitation will be held on Thursday, September 22, 2011 at Beard Mortuary from 6 PM to 9 PM.  Funeral service will be held on Friday, September 23, 2011 at 1:00 PM at the First Wesleyan Church, 3135 Washington Blvd., Huntington, with Pastor Glen Robinson officiating. Burial will follow at Woodmere Memorial Park, Huntington.  A celebration of Jack's life will follow at the Fellowship Hall at the church.  Special thanks to Mud River Fire Department, EMS Services, and Annie.  Online condolences can be conveyed to the family at www.beardmortuary.com
