Irene Sayre

Irene Welch Sayre, 94, of Barboursville, passed away Friday, December 5, 2008 in St. Mary's Medical Center, Huntington.  Funeral service will be conducted at 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, December 9, 2008 at Beard Mortuary, Huntington, with Dr. Allen Reasons and the Rev. Hubert Harvey officiating.  Burial will follow in Woodmere Memorial Park, Huntington.  She was born April 27, 1914 in Cabin Creek, WV, a daughter of the late Goodwin and Elsie Nichols Welch.  She was also preceded in death by her husband, Dana V. Sayre, Jr; one brother, Hansford Welch and two sisters, Virginia Fleming and Dorothy Welch.  Mrs. Sayre worked at the former Anderson-Newcomb/Stone & Thomas Department Store for many years.  She is survived by one daughter and son-in-law, Carolyn and Dr. John P. Sheils of Huntington; two grandchildren, John Taylor Sheils and his wife, Rosalinda of Sarasota, FL and Julie Rodriguez and her husband, Ramon of Miami Springs, FL; five great grandchildren, Alexis Collins and her husband, Edwin of Vernon, AL, Jonathan Dweck and his wife, Melissa of Miami Lakes, FL, Christopher Dweck, Jacob Dweck and Joseph Rodriguez, all of Miami Springs, FL; and three great-great grandchildren, Katie, Juliana and Emma, all of Vernon, AL.  Friends may call one hour prior to the service Tuesday at the mortuary.  Online condolences may be sent at www.beardmortuary.com
