Howard Owen Basenback

HOWARD O. BASENBACK, 79 of Huntington, WV went home to be with his Lord and Savior on Wednesday April 9, 2014 at Cabell Huntington Hospital. Funeral services will be held on Saturday at 12:00 p.m. at Beard Mortuary with Rev. Phillip Bowen and Rev. Hewlett Trogdon officiating. Burial and Military graveside rites will follow at White Chapel Memorial Gardens, Barboursville, WV. The family will receive friends after 10:00 a.m. on Saturday. He was born December 22, 1934 in Huntington the son of the late Roy Howard and Beulah Hardwick Basenback. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by an infant son, Gregory Allen Basenback, a brother Roy C. Basenback and two sisters, Delores Stevens and Phyllis Corns. He served in the US Army as a communication technician. He retired from H.K. Porter Co. and later became the owner of the Sewing Bee. He was a loyal member and served as Treasurer of the Community Holiness Chapel for 40 years. Howard is survived by his loving wife of 53 years, Patricia Newman Basenback; a daughter, Benita Basenback Spurlock; a son Jeffrey Boster both of Huntington; grandchildren, Chad O. Spurlock and Brianna Arnold; great-grandchildren, Ali and Brayden Arnold, Rae-Anne, Kyler and Kaylee Spurlock; two special nieces, Donna Childers and Royce Lively of Huntington; two sisters-in-law, Donna (Phillip) Bowen and Carolyn (Thomas) Parker and a host of extended family and  friends.
