Herschel Lee Sowards

Herschel "Lee" Sowards, 65, of Lesage, passed away Sunday, December 2, 2007 at Hospice House of Huntington.  Funeral service will be conducted 1:00 PM, Wednesday, December 5, 2007 at Beard Mortuary with Minister Barry Frye officiating.  Entombment will follow in Woodmere Memorial Park, Abbey of Remembrance.  He was born August 20, 1942 in Lincoln County, WV a son of Emalean Beckett Sowards of Ona and the late Herschel M. Sowards.  He was also preceded in death by his brother, Warner Sowards.  Lee loved to boat and fish.  He worked for many years at Milton Food Center. He was a retired manager for Tradewell and had a booth at the Ohio Valley Flea Market where he sold music.  In addition to his mother, he is survived by his wife, Vivian "Sis" Sowards; son, Michael and Jacqueline Erwin of Barboursville; granddaughter, Madison Erwin; two sisters, Donna and Dennis Bowen and Sue and Aaron Chapman all of Ona; nephews, Junior and Charlotte Chapman and Troy and Tedda Chapman; great nephews, Zack, Eli, Jacob, and Joshua; great niece, McKenzie.  Visitation will be from 11 am to 1 pm on Wednesday, December 5, 2007 at Beard Mortuary.  Online condolences may be sent at www.beardmortuary.com
