Helen May Eakle

HELEN MAY EAKLE, of Huntington, widow of Charles Eakle, passed away on Saturday, December 7, 2013. She was born on April 2, 1915 in Henderson, WV, a daughter of the late Charles and Sylvia (Gibson) Young. In addition to her husband and parents she was preceded in death by brothers Dana and Charles Lane Young. She is survived by her children, Judy, David and Susan; grandchildren, Jamie, Julie, Amanda and Missy; and ten great-grandchildren. Mrs. Eakle was the first female Real Estate Broker in Huntington and owned her own Realty company. She was the past president of the Democratic Women's Society and a member of the Community of Grace United Methodist Church. The family wishes to express a special thank you to Helen's caregivers, Sherry, April, Jen, Christy and Rozella, who were family to her in her last years and moments. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, December 14, 2013 at 1:00 PM at the Community of Grace United Methodist Church, Huntington, with Pastor Steven Hamrick officiating. Burial will follow at Woodmere Memorial Park, Huntington. Visitation will be held on Friday evening from 7 pm to 8 pm at Beard Mortuary, Huntington. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests that expressions of sympathy take the form of donations to the Community of Grace United Methodist Church in Helen's honor.
