Helen Davis

Helen Wheeler Davis, 85 of Barboursville, WV went to be with her Lord on Saturday February 14, 2009 at St. Mary's Medical Center. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday at 11:00 AM at Beard Mortuary with Rev. Stan Maynard and Rev. Jim Franklin officiating. Burial will follow in Ridgelawn Memorial Park.  She was born October 16, 1923 in Santa Ana, CA a daughter of the late Joseph Garland and Una McComas Wheeler. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, George C. Davis. She was retired from the Cabell County Board of Education having taught many years at Emmons Elementary School. Helen was a member of Church in the Valley and a former member of Alpha Delta Kappa Sorority, Collis P. Huntington Railroad Society, East Huntington Kiwanianne Club and First State Bank Harvest Club. She is survived by her loving daughter and son-in-law, Marla and David Racer of Barboursville; a step-daughter, Kay Cory and her husband, Bob of Valparaiso, IN; step-grandchildren, Sue Troy, Joe Racer and Dean Cory; several nieces, nephews and cousins, four sisters-in-law, two brothers-in-law, and her special friends, Lillian Racer and Susanna Rose.  The family would like to thank all her caregivers over the years, including, Debbie, Bill and especially Hazel.
