Hartley Leon Scarberry

December 20, 1925 — December 8, 2015

Hartley Leon Scarberry, 89, of Huntington, passed away on Tuesday, December 8, 2015 at his residence. Born December 20, 1925 in Cabell County, he was a son of the late Charles Scarberry and Alice Turley. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Becky Scarberry; step-son, Sherman Adkins; grandson, Colby McCarley; three brothers and two sisters. Hartley was a U.S. Navy Veteran who proudly served his country during WWII and was a Fire Fighter for the city of Huntington for 30 years. Hartley was a lifetime member of the VFW Post #9738 and was well respected and recognized in the community. He will be dearly missed and lovingly remembered by all who had the pleasure of knowing him. He is survived by his children, Sherry Roberts of Huntington, Karen (William Hart) of Huntington, special daughter-in-law, Sandy Adkins and Sharon (Michael) Morris of Huntington; his siblings, Geneva Wells of Huntington and Betty Jefferson of Lesage; 11 grandchildren; 32 great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren and a multitude of friends. Funeral Services will be held at 1:00 P.M. on Monday, December 14, 2015 at Beard Mortuary, Huntington, with Pastor Jamie Jefferson, officiating. Interment with Military Honors will follow at Woodmere Memorial Park, Huntington. Visitation will be held Sunday evening, December 13, 2015 from 6:00 to 9:00 P.M. at the mortuary.
