Genaro Morales Quodala, 82, of Huntington, WV, passed away peacefully on Sunday, September 6, 2026. Services will be at 2:00 pm, Saturday, September 12, 2026, in Spring Hill Cemetery. Genaro was born September 29, 1943, in Caoayan, Ilocos Sur, the son of the late Mariano Quogana and Esperanza Morales Quodala. He graduated from the University of the Philippines with bachelor’s and master’s degrees in chemical engineering. He worked as a process engineer with Marathon Ashland Petroleum Company, retiring in 2014. He enjoyed his rose and vegetable gardens, growing ampalaya (bitter melon), sitaw (long beans), Japanese eggplant, and tomatoes. He had a deep appreciation for US history that resulted in summer vacations spent at historic sites. He adored his grandchildren, dumping ice cream in front of them with every visit. He was a member of Our Lady of Fatima Catholic Church, Regency Dance Club, and Ivy Dance Club. He was preceded in death by his wife, Violeta del Castillo Quodala. He is survived by his children, Rowena Quodala of New Albany, IN, Genaro Quodala, Jr., and wife Rosanne of Winchester, VA, and Vincent Quodala of Ranson, WV; seven grandchildren, Jessica Higdon, Jon Higdon, Genaro Quodala III and wife Natasha, Leslie Quodala and husband Patrick Silver, Laurel Quodala, Violet Quodala and Marshall Quodala; three sisters and brothers-in-law, Rosario Quodala Cala and her husband Epifanion; Magdalena Quodala Reclusado and her husband Saturnino; Maria Quodala Susa; and extended family members. In lieu of flowers those who wish may make memorial contributions to Cabell-Wayne Association of the Blind.
