Eleanor Hannel

Mrs. Eleanor Gompers Hannel, 97, of Huntington, WV, died Friday, August 7, 2009 at the Emogene Dolin Jones Hospice House after a brief illness.  Funeral Mass will be held at 10 a.m. Monday, August 10, 2009 at Our Lady of Fatima Catholic Church with Father Jim Sobus officiating.  Burial will follow in Spring Hill Cemetery, Huntington.  Mrs. Hannel was born May 28, 1912 in Wheeling, WV, the daughter of the late Harry and Genevive Cavenaugh Gompers.  She was also preceded in death by her husband, Edward, a granddaughter, Emily Mulshine, sister, Mary V. Thalman, and brothers, Jack, Howard and Bill Gompers.   She is survived by her three daughters, Kathleen Mulshine of Cincinnati, Ohio, Mary Jo Scalzo and her husband Richard of Dayton, Ohio, and Judith Josselyn of Troy, Ohio; 6 grandchildren David Mulshine, Barbara (Mike) Keefe, Maggie (Craig) Frye, Sara (Kyle) O'Hara all of Cincinnati, Ohio, Ryan Josselyn of Columbus, Ohio, Meagan Josselyn of Troy, Ohio; one great grandchild Benjamin Frye; and many dear nieces and nephews.  She was blessed with the love and support of special neighbors. Mrs. Hannel was a faithful member of Our Lady of Fatima Parish. She served on the Altar Society for many years and was past President of the Women's Guild.  For 30 years she volunteered as a member of the Women's Auxiliary of St. Mary's Hospital.  Friends may call from 9 to 10 a.m. Monday at the church.  Beard Mortuary, Huntington is in charge of arrangements.  Memorial donations may be made to the Our Lady of Fatima Parish or Hospice of Huntington.  Online condolences may be sent at www.beardmortuary.com
