Dorval Hendrix "Don" Donahoe

April 30, 1932 — October 15, 2017

Dorval Hendrix "Don" Donahoe, MD, went to be with his Lord on October 15, 2017. A Celebration of his Life will be held on Saturday at 1:00 p.m. at Word of Life Church, Mount Gay, WV. The family will receive friends after 11:00 a.m. at the church. He was born April 30, 1932 in Camp Creek, WV, the son of the late Ollie and Verdie Tabor Donahoe. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by a son, Ron Chambers and a daughter, Julie Donahoe.  He is survived by his loving wife of 54 years, Alice Sue Dillon Donahoe; a daughter, Susie; a son Schoch, three daughters-in-law, Lara, Sallie and Catherine; seven grandchildren, Aaron, Caleb, Chance, Jesse, Maggie, London and Brinkley; and two brothers, Dale and Lowell. Don was a United States Marine and veteran of the Korean War. As a graduate of West Virginia University, Doc began his civilian career as a Pharmacist and went on to practice medicine as a Physician for over 55 years. With a legacy of generosity and the philosophy "Giving is Living", Don and Sue have fostered over 42 children and opened their home to multiple foreign exchange students, who to this day call them mom and dad. Dr. Donahoe was a well-loved and highly respected son, brother, husband, father, grandfather, uncle, teacher, mentor, pastor and friend. It was always Dr. Donahoe's wish to donate his remains to the West Virginia School of Osteopathic Medicine. That wish has been fulfilled as, even in death, he is contributing to others' lives through the education of WVSOM's future physicians. Memorial contributions may be made in his honor to the Hospice of Huntington. Beard Mortuary, Huntington, is assisting the family.
