Doris Dillon Brandon, 82, of Huntington, WV, passed away peacefully on Thursday, September 18, 2025, at Lincoln Healthcare Center in Hamlin, WV.
Graveside services will be held on Saturday, October 4, at 11:00 a.m. at Rome Cemetery, with Rev. Greg Markins officiating. Burial will follow.
She was born on November 14, 1942, in Wickliffe, OH, the daughter of the late Francis Norbert and Virginia Dillon Roubieu. From a young age, Doris was known for her adventurous spirit, quick wit, and strong sense of independence.
Doris built a long and successful career as Shipping Manager for the Parts Department at Villa Ford in Orange, CA, where she worked for 25 years. She was admired for her organizational skills, professionalism, and dedication to her team. Colleagues remember her as dependable and resourceful, with a knack for solving problems and keeping everything running smoothly.
Her love for cars extended beyond her career. A true enthusiast, Doris took joy in all things automotive. She especially loved convertibles and often said that driving with the top down reminded her of her younger days of cruising with friends. Over the years, she owned and cared for several German Shepherd dogs, who were not only faithful companions but also a source of comfort and joy.
Faith was the cornerstone of Doris's life. While living in California, she attended Fullerton Methodist Church, where she was active in her church community and volunteered each week on the food line to serve those in need. She took her role in helping others seriously and was happiest when she could lend a hand or offer encouragement. After her retirement, Doris moved to Huntington to be closer to family and became a member of Steele Memorial United Methodist Church, where she continued to nurture her spiritual life.
Doris's friends and family describe her as strong, determined, and unafraid to speak the truth with compassion. She had a gift for offering advice that went beyond words—it resonated and stayed with people. She celebrated others' successes, stood by them during trials, and was always ready to listen. Her legacy is one of resilience, faith, generosity, and a quiet but steady courage that inspired all who knew her.
In her leisure time, Doris enjoyed reading, taking long drives, and sharing stories with friends. She had a vibrant personality that drew people to her, and she will be remembered for her laughter, wisdom, and the way she made those around her feel valued and loved.
Doris is survived by her sister, Peggy Burns of Riverside, CA, as well as many cousins and extended family. She will be deeply missed but lovingly remembered by all who were fortunate to share in her life. Those who wish may make memorial contributions to Steele Memorial United Church.
