Doris Jean Burchett

September 16, 1927 — June 28, 2007

Doris Jean Muncey Burchett, 79, of Huntington, widow of Col. W. E. Burchett, passed away Thursday, June 28, in St. Mary's Medical Center.  Doris was born September 16, 1927 in Kermit, WV to the late Thomas and Bertha Muncey.  She was also preceded in death by two brothers, Floyd Muncey and Fred Muncey.  She is survived by one son, Larry Smith of Louisiana and one daughter, Lois Damron of Ona, WV; five grandchildren and several great grandchildren; three sisters, Judith Ann Cox, Betty Lou Muncey and Bonnie Sue Thompson of Huntington; two nieces; five nephews; two aunts, Lucille Hunt of Washington Court House, OH and Lyda Whitlow of Jacksonville, FL; and several cousins.  Doris retired from Kroger Company as a head checker.  Services will be conducted by the Rev. Kim Justice.  Visitation will begin at 11 a.m. Monday, July 2, with services beginning at 12 noon at Beard Mortuary.  Graveside services will be conducted at 2:30 p.m. at Forest Lawn Cemetery in Pecks Mill, WV.  Doris had a very wonderful giving heart and truly loved her family.  She will be greatly missed.  She will be laid in eternal rest beside her brother Fred and at the feet of her father whom she loved more than anyone else in this world.  The family wishes to thank everyone who helped in any way to care for Doris.  Special thanks going to her wonderful neighbors, the Patel family and extra special thanks to Nikul and Shamil Patel.  Many thanks to our friend, Sharon Stevens for her care.  Thanks to Dr. William Beam and Dr. Ahmed Abdelgaber and all the staff at St. Mary's, HIMG and all the EMTs who provided care for her and to Beard Mortuary.
