Donavon Lee Giles

Donavon Lee Giles, 79, of Huntington, passed away on Tuesday, March 29, 2016 at Huntington Health and Rehabilitation Center. Born May 17, 1936 in Royal, WV, he was a son of the late Hubert Lester Giles and Mary Lucille Hicks Blake. Don graduated from Collins High School in Oak Hill, WV, and was an Army National Guard Veteran. He was a member of the Grace Gospel Church in Huntington and was self-employed for 28 years. Don was a past manager of A&P Tea Co. and B&B Food Market. He enjoyed electronics, model trains, fishing, reading and wood working. He is survived by his wife of 55 years, Iris Giles; his children, Donavon Wayne (Lisa) Giles of Huntington and Tammy Lynn Giles of Columbus, OH; grandchildren, Christina Alisha Giles, Cordell Wayne Giles and Kerry (Nick) Martinez; great-grandchildren, Dylan Martinez and Isabella Martinez; half-brothers, Michael Giles of Amelia, VA and William Giles of Victoria, VA, and his step-brother, Donald Blake of Summersville, WV. The family will receive friends from 11:00 A.M. to 1:00 P.M. on Saturday, April 2, 2016 at Beard Mortuary, Huntington. Graveside Services will follow at 1:30 P.M. at Forest Lawn Memorial Gardens in Huntington, with Pastor Keith Wiebe, officiating. Those who wish may make memorial contributions to Grace Gospel Church in Huntington or Hospice of Huntington.
