Donald Chester Weed, 85, born July 17, 1924, in Huntington, West Virginia, died October 2, 2009, in Columbus, Ohio.  Funeral service will be conducted at 1 p.m. Thursday, October 8, 2009 at Beard Mortuary, Huntington with Pastor Richard W. Poole officiating.  Burial will follow in Rome Cemetery, Proctorville, OH.  He was the husband of Patricia Edmonds Keller Weed of Reynoldsburg, Ohio.  He was preceded in death by his wife, Ruth Eloise Templeton Weed, his twin brother, Ronald Lester Weed and a sister, Margaret Eloise Weed McGhee.  He served in the United States Navy in World War II and participated in the Normandy landing on D-Day. A longtime resident of Chesapeake, Ohio, he was a supervisor at International Nickel Co. He was superintendent of the Chesapeake Nazarene Church and officiated at high school football games.  In addition to his wife, he is also survived by one son, Donald Weed Jr. of Sammamish, Washington; three stepchildren; and four step-grandchildren.  Friends may call from noon to 1 p.m. Thursday at Beard Mortuary, Huntington.  Online condolences may be sent at www.beardmortuary.com
